Regularly found washed up on the strandline among the seaweed. Grows at sea below the low tide mark. Leaves c 3-10 mm wide ID: Leaves arising from sheaths which surround stem, leaves alternate up stem, looking like grass leaves but very flaccid and smooth, and parallel-sided until the rounded tip. Other Zostera species have leaves under 2 mm wide. Other features: Flowers tiny, in two rows, within leaf-sheaths. No flower pictures yet. |
