Common in wet ground, in lowland marshes and beside burns on moors.

Flower diameter c 5 mm, flowerhead c 8-10 cm wide.

Skye ID: Flowers lilac, sometimes almost white, 5 joined petals, 3 stamens.  Leaves made up of several toothed leaflets on each side and one at the end.  Leaves in opposite pairs, lower leaves long-stalked.

Other features: Fruit has feathery pappus which floats on wind.
