Appears here and there in short grass including lawns. Flower diameter c 8-15 mm Skye ID: Flowers solitary in leaf-axils, on stalks much more than twice as long as leaves (typically four times as long as the leaf in whose axil they are). V persica has flower stalks at most twice leaf length. Other features: Flowers mauvish-blue, the top petal usually darker than the bottom one. Flower-stalks notably slender. Does not normally produce fruits in Britain. Grows along the ground, forming mats. |
