Rare in non-acid grassy places and hayfields

Flower diameter c 2-4 mm.  Plant up to 120 cm high.

Skye ID: Leaves in whorls of 6-8, stem not rough like Goosegrass.  Flowers white, petals much longer than tube.  Large straggling plant, not small and compact or mat-forming.

Other features: Leaves one-veined, with small forwardly-directed prickles along the edges, and ending in a short point.  Fruit without bristles.  This is a large clambering bedstraw that scrambles up other vegetation in a similar way to Goosegrass, but it does not have the roughness that causes Goosegrass to cling to animals and clothing.  Like Goosegrass it can be much shorter when it has no other vegetation to climb.
