Common in woods and under bracken, also frequent in open moorland.

Flower diameter c 2-4 cm

Skye ID: White flowers, sometimes pink-tinged, mostly with 6 or 7 petals.  Large cluster of carpels and stamens typical of Buttercup family.

Other features: Whorl of 3 leaves halfway up stem, these and basal leaves divided into 3-5 segments which are in turn deeply cut.

Purple Wood Anemone growing among white ones and
Celandines.  All the flowers on the purple plant were
this colour.  Whorl of 3 upper leaves also visible here.
