Sporadic in broadleaved woods or in shady spots adjacent to woods. Petals enclosing fruit c 3 mm long. Skye ID: Fruit enclosed by 3 petals without teeth. One of these petals has a large tubercle almost as wide as itself, and the others have very small tubercles or none. Other features: Inflorescence much less dense than that of Broad-leaved Dock or Curled Dock - see bottom picture for characteristic appearance. Leaves not as bulky as Broad-leaved Dock but not as narrow as Curled Dock. Clustered Dock, not recorded from Skye, is similar but has equal tubercles on all 3 petals. |
