Occasional on damp ground and ditches. Leaves c 5-10 cm. Flowers c 4 mm across when open (closed in these pics) Skye ID: Greenish-white flowers. Leaves tapering to both ends, the upper almost unstalked but not clasping the stem Flower spikes more than 3 times as long as broad, and interrupted so that some flowers or small groups of flowers are somewhat isolated from the rest (these are often in leaf-axils). Other Skye Polygonum species have much denser and more compacted flower-spikes. Other features: Petals covered with small yellow glands. Does not have dark blotch on leaves like Persicaria. Flower-spike nodding. |
