Very common on the shore, both among rocks and forming a saltmarsh turf. Also frequent inland, on road edges and in rocky ground, or sometimes on open moorland. Flowers c 3 mm long. Flower-spike normally 2-6 cm. Skye ID: Leaves linear, fleshy, channelled, at least 3-veined, not or only slightly toothed. Other features: Stamens pale yellow. |

Saltmarsh covered with Sea Plantain. About the only other plant present is Sea Aster, whose flowers are showing above the sward here and there. |
