A garden escape naturalised in many places Flower diameter c 5-7.5 cm ID: Unmistakable in flower. The fruit tapers to both ends, whereas in Long-headed Poppy it is as broad at the tip as in the middle. Other features: Flowers solitary on long stalks. Leaves not bluish-green as in Long-headed Poppy but more yellowish-green, pinnate with broad, lobed leaflets. Native to hill country of Wales and SW England. |
