Common in woods and shady places. Thrives in conifer plantations. Flower diameter c 1.3 cm ID: Unmistakeable. When not in flower leaves might be taken for clovers, but they are paler green, softer, easily folding about the midrib, and with red stems. Other features: Gaelic name Seamrag (pronounced Shamrock). As St Patrick observed, the leaflets are three persons with one nature. |
