Rare in limestone rock crevices.  Not seen since 1990; please report any sightings.

Height c 20-60 cm.  Flower diameter c 12-20 mm.  Lowest petal of flower c 9-11 mm long.

Skye ID: Flowers greenish-red, the cup-shaped basal section of the lowest petal being all dark inside and not red-spotted as in Dark Red Helleborine.

Other features: Leaves broader and flowers larger than in Dark Red Helleborine.  Both species have upper stem downy.  Leaves spirally arranged, not in two rows, and spreading more or less horizontally.
