A rare garden escape.

Cladodes (look like leaves) 1-4 cm long.

ID: Has dark green spine-tipped cladodes with small greenish flowers in their centre.

Other features: An evergreen shrub.  The true leaves are very small and brownish.  The flowers come out from January onwards and the female ones develop into a red berry.
