Common in dry stony places from sea level to high in hills. Flower diameter c 6-9 mm. Leaves c 4-8 mm. Skye ID: Nothing similar on Skye. Low-growing cushion-like plant with purple flowers. Flower-stems very hairy on two sides and much less hairy, if at all, on other two sides. Other features: Like many of our small upland plants is actually a woody shrub. Roots at nodes of creeping branches. Flower 2-lipped as with most labiates. Upper lip flat, not hooded; lower lip with 3 well-developed lobes. |
