Includes M x dumetorum. Is the hybrid between M aquatica and M spicata. Could occur either as an escape from cultivation, or as the offspring of cultivated M spicata with native M aquatica.

Occasional on damp waste ground Leaves c 4-8 cm long, flower-spike c 4-6 cm long, 12-25 mm across ID: Leaves distinctly stalked, over twice as long as broad. Flowers in cylindrical or narrowly conical terminal heads, not rounded heads like Water Mint. Other features: Stems often purplish. As a sterile hybrid it does not form seeds. Calyx tube hairless or sparsely hairy (teeth may be very hairy). Stamens never protruding from flower-tube (style does). |
