Frequent in rough vegetation and woodland.

Flower c 13-17 mm long, c 8-10 mm wide.  Stems c 15-30 cm tall.

Skye ID: Leaves and flower-bracts very purplish.  Stem much hairier on 2 opposite sides than on the other two sides.  Upper lip of flower very short compared to most Labiates.

Other features: Spreads very vigorously by rooting stolons forming leaf-rosettes at intervals along ground.  Basal leaves long-stalked, stem leaves virtually stalkless.
