Common in wet ground, especially bogs and edges of lochs. Tepals c 2 mm, fruit capsule c 2-3 mm, leaves c 3-12 cm. Skye ID: Stems swollen at the base into "bulbs" (red bits in top pic below) Other features: Very variable. Often viviparous, as in pic on left, with young plants in place of flowers. Sometimes 3 generations can be found joined together. |
