Very rare and perhaps not now present.  Coastal.

Stems to 15 cm long.  Spikelets c 4-8 mm long, glumes and lemmas c 2-3.5 mm.

Skye ID: A short stiff grass with inflorescence sparingly branched or unbranched. Spikelets in two rows, both angled forward from the axis.  c 4-10 florets per spikelet.

Other features: Often prostrate.  Inflorescence often purplish.
