Occasional on waste ground or as a garden weed. Spikelets 1.5-2 cm long. Skye ID: Spikelets close to main stem, not long-stalked. Lemma with a narrow whitish margin which 3/4 of the way up the lemma is only about 1/4 of the distance from edge to midrib (1/2 distance in B Lepidus, which occurred in Skye in the past) Other features: Very variable but generally hairy everywhere especially on leaves, sheaths, ligules and spikelets. |
