Only common on the sand dunes at Glenbrittle, odd plant in sandy patches of shore elsewhere. A tall grass, up to 120 cm. Spikelets 12-14 mm Skye ID: Spikelets one-flowered, enclosed by the glumes, which are over 10 mm long. Other features: Ligule very long and pointed, 10-30 mm long. Spikelets crowded round the axis in a cylindrical shape tapering at both ends. |
