Rare, among limestone rocks. Fruit and female glumes c 2.5-3 mm. Spike c 10-15 mm long. Leaves c 1-2 mm wide. Skye ID: Has a single spike with male flowers above and about 3-6 female flowers below. Has a small glume-like bract at base of spike, unlike Flea Sedge, which also has much larger fruit. Other features: Leaves curly, and also rolled or folded along their length. Fruit has very short beak about 0.25 mm. 3 stigmas. Female glumes dark brown with a pale margin. |
