Occasional, loch edges, bog pools, wet peaty ground. Spikes c 5-8 mm long. Fruit c 2-3 mm long including beak. Female glumes c 2 mm. ID: Like Oval Sedge, has all spikes similar, female at top and male at base. Told from it by the smaller fruits and glumes (see above) and pale colour of spikes. Other features: All bracts small, glume-like, the lowest one extended into a bristle-point. Fruit green with yellowish ribs, beak about a quarter total fruit length, with a notch slightly deeper than wide. |
