Rare, only known from edge of River Snizort. Male spikes c 1.5-4.5 cm long, female c 2-6 cm long. Female glumes c 2-3 mm long, Fruit c 2-2.5 mm long including beak c 0.1-0.2 mm. Skye ID: 2-4 male spikes above 3-5 female spikes (upper one may be male at top), all many times longer than broad. Bracts of lowest 2 spikes very long, at least one of them normally longer than the rest of the inflorescence. Fruit oval with tiny unnotched beak, easily distinguished from conspicuous beak on Bottle Sedge fruit. Other features: Leaves glaucous above, green beneath. Styles 2 (Bottle Sedge has 3). |
