Common within its habitat: steep rock faces both in the hills and on sea cliffs.

Stems 15-30 cm.  Leaves 1-4 cm.

Skye ID: Unmistakable at any time of year.

Other features: Stems arise from a winding above-ground rhizome.  Leaves densely packed on stem, the largest ones near the top.  Male and female flowers on separate plants, with 4 linear yellow petals.
