Common in waste ground, gardens, edges of walls, paving cracks. Flowerhead diameter c 4-5 mm ID: Outer bracts of involucre black-tipped (see pic below), and up to a quarter as long as the inner. Involucre not or hardly broader at base than at top. Flowerheads unstalked at first, becoming stalked later. Plant not notably sticky. Other features: Occasionally has ray florets, but usually without. Fruit has pappus of white hairs to aid wind dispersal. |
