Occasional on rock ledges or scree in mountains, rarely on sea cliffs. Only picture so far is of post-flowering plant on inaccessible ledge. Flowerhead diameter c 10-15 mm Skye ID: The involucre (the green part of the flowerhead) is notably longer than broad, and the flowers are purple. Leaves not thistle-like. Other features: Leaves look rather like Foxglove leaves from above, but have distinctive toothing with the teeth sticking out at right angles to the leaf edge which is curved between the teeth. Leaves are white on the underside. |
