Common in grassland including on hills and upper levels of saltmarshes Flowerhead diameter c 10-35 mm, height typically 15-30 cm. ID: Involucre narrows into stalk, not bell-shaped as in Catsear. Small scale-like bracts on stem, especially near top, but no stem-leaves (all leaves are from base) Other features: Outer florets often red below in the south of the area, but never as far north as Skye in my experience. Often branched. Leaves deeply lobed. |
