Frequent on dry heathery or stony ground. Plant no more than 20 cm tall. Flowerheads c 5-12 mm diameter Skye ID: Leaves green above (not pale glaucous as in cudweeds), white-woolly beneath, a very striking and obvious contrast. Leaves in basal rosette, with smaller ones up stem, these latter very upright, almost vertical. Flowerheads pink, surrounded by white or pink bracts. 2-8 flowerheads in a terminal cluster at approximately the same level, not mixed with leaves. Other features: Has creeping runners from base with similar leaves to those of basal rosette. Male and female plants separate, with very different flowerheads. |
