Fairly frequent in salt-marshes Shoots up to 30 cm high, typically much less. Skye ID: Unmistakable - much-branched fleshy stems with no obvious leaves. Other features: The leaves are actually the part that you see. These are like tubes surrounding the stem, and extend from one stem-joint to the next. Flowers very small, in groups of 3, the middle one the largest, their only visible parts being a green bract and a yellow stamen. Plant (including bracts) may sometimes turn yellow or red. Annual. |
