Occasional on bare gravel or stony ground, at any altitude but especially fond of mountain scree. Flower diameter c 4-5 mm ID: Linear leaves with a bristle-like point at the tip which is > 3/4 x leaf-width on most leaves. Forms cushions with central rosette not flowering (examine several). 10 stamens, 5 petals. Other features: Looks very like Procumbent Pearlwort but with much more showy flowers. Usually has gland-hairs on the calyx and its stalk. These can be seen in the picture on the left below.
